Our Services

Children Unique Christian Academy, currently known as Children Unique Christian Daycare Center, Inc. is among the finest of childcare facilities in the Augusta area. Children Unique boasts 10 years of continual service to the CSRA community with locations in Augusta and Appling, Georgia, faithfully serving clients in four counties. Children Unique was founded in 1996 by company president Janie Davis and family.

Children Unique serves children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age from all races, cultures, creeds, socio-economic statuses, and abilities. Children Unique is an adaptive environment and welcomes children with various disabilities. We collaborate with agencies such as Babies Can't Wait and the Richmond County Board of Education's Special Education Department as well as other outside agencies to facilitate us in our aspiration to include all children.

The professional staff and warm and friendly climate that this family-operated facility offers affords parents the comfort of knowing that their little ones are safe and sound. Parents can go to work with the assurance that a well thought out and meaningful day has been planned for their child, and that the needs of the "whole child" are being considered. That means we are concerned not only about the physical needs of the child as is the exclusive focus of many childcare facilities, but we are consider the social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual aspects of each child and gear curriculum to meet those needs. Our uniqueness lies in our ability to keep it personal, yet professional. We consider every employee and every family that we cater to a part of the Unique family.

With a growing number of families now working non-traditional work hours, we extend beyond the typical 6am-6pm business hours. We operate from 4:30am to 12:00am, which makes Children Unique an ideal choice for military families and second shift workers. Indoor and outdoor security surveillance, monitoring system and keypad entry offer parents the security of knowing that evening care means serene care for their child.

 

Products and Services:

Developmental groups for children consists of Infants, Pre-Toddlers, Toddlers, Preschoolers, Pre-Kindergarteners, Kindergarteners, Step I School-Age Program (Grades 1-3), Step II School-Age Program (Grades 4-6).

Our Infant and Toddler Programs involve developmentally appropriate activities that foster security and promote healthy development. Nurturing and skilled, all infant staff are trained in CPR and First Aid and are highly trained in Early Childhood Education and understand the developmental needs of infants. Our curriculum incorporates a wide-range of activities which focus on teaching children self-help skills, auditory, visual, and sensory stimulation, large and fine muscle skills, coordination, communication and language development. Low-ratios and high standards ensure a healthy and happy environment for babies.

Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten Programs focus on cognitive, language, fine and large-motor development, self-help and social skills. Our classrooms provide meaningful developmentally appropriate activities and instruction that correspond to thematic units within the curriculum. The environment in our classes encourages experiences that allow for exploration, creativity and enjoyment. The ultimate goal of these programs is to prepare children for a successful transition into kindergarten and beyond.

In Kindergarten students will be provided with an opportunity to learn the basic skills in Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Music. Our program will feature a highly focused instructional program for each subject with an emphasis on reading to ensure that students are successful in mastering the skills outlined in the Georgia Performance Standards manual, and the objectives as outlined on required state-standardized tests.

Step I and Step II Programs include before and after school services as well as summer camp, tutorial and reading enrichment programs. Children Unique offers a safe, high-quality alternative for latch-key kids, eliminating the number of unsupervised youth during the most high-risk hours of the day when many parents are at work. In addition to assisting students with homework and providing tutorials, children have a place to just relax, play, and experience fun and enriching activities.

Our school-age programs offer numerous outdoor activities, sports, enrichment programs, and spiritual development at a very reasonable rate. Field trips, weekly lunches, surprise activities, and daily devotions make our summer program unique. There is something for every child! Families get the best of both worlds. Happy children get fun, engaging activities that don't feel like "school." Parents get high-quality affordable care that offers flexible schedules and educational experiences. Unlike most childcare centers, we have a strong literary component that extends year-round. With the high-incidence of struggling readers in the county, programs like ours are in high-demand.

Extracurricular activities include dance, music, art, performances, recreational and educational field trips, cooking activities, water play, computer, sign, and Spanish education. Physical fitness with organized drills for strength, flexibility and stamina is an integral part of our curriculum. In addition, many opportunities for free play using a variety of outdoor equipment will be provided. We also offer a variety of optional enrichment classes for children to participate in at an additional cost. These classes include karate, dance class, and mime.
